Agritourism
America's
Heartland. Great Bend is the Heart of Kansas and Heart of
America's rural culture. The abundance and deep roots of our agricultural
heritage are visible everywhere here and visitors can be a part
of these heartland traditions.
Farmer's
Market. There's a weekly celebration in Great Bend during
the spring, summer and fall at the local farmer's market on Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturday mornings in the Broadway parking lot of
the town's library.
3i
Show. 620-792-2401. Farmers, ranchers and producers
come to Great Bend to try out the newest equipment and see the
latest techniques. Held in May, the show has hundreds of booths
and displays. The next 3i Show dates: May 7-9,2008..
Dozier's
Winery. 620-564-0195. The Doziers welcome visitors to their
vineyard and winery tucked on a country road southeast of Great
Bend. The tasting room and gift shop are located in an old train
depot.
Barton
County Fair. 620-617-FAIR. The Fair retains a small-town feel
and offers a look at prize-winning local crops, baked goods, and
rural projects. The Fair takes place at the Expo complex west
of Great Bend in early July.
Stafford
County Flour Mill. 620-458-4121. It's worth a trip to little
Hudson, Kansas, just twenty minutes southeast of Great Bend, to
visit a real working flour mill and buy some wholesome Hudson
Cream Flour.
Heartland
Farm. 620-923-4585. The Sisters of Heartland Farm provide
tours and demonstrations of their organic farming methods. The
Farm is the site for all types of workshops and is home to a herd
of lovable Alpacas.

Rosewood
Ranch. 620-793-5888 x113. Rosewood Ranch offers equine psychotherapy
(a gentle, powerful process of discovery). The Ranch offers a
chance to experience the emotional sensitivity of horses with
personal growth workshops, weekend retreats, therapy, staff development
workshops, and more.

Miller
Longhorn Ranch. 620-793-7213. Visit the scenic Miller Ranch
for a closer look at the unique breed of cattle called Longhorns.
One look at the split rail fences and the distinctive curved horns
of the cattle will take you back to the romance of the Old West.
