You’ll find lots to see and do in Great Bend during the holidays. We’ve been doing Christmas right for over twenty years. The Trail of Lights started small but we’re proud to say that it is now a national attraction.
Great Bend’s light displays and Santas are built entirely by hand and designed by City employees and local artists. Our handcrafted light displays are nothing less than one-of-a-kind lighted Folk Art! Santas Around the World local artist Loretta Miller normally creates little elves and Santa. We asked her to make life-size Santas and you’ll love the results!
Last year, a family group from Kansas City area chose Great Bend for an early holiday gathering. It was a diverse group, with children, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. They stayed overnight, ate at local restaurants, went ice skating, shopped, enjoyed the hotel pool, traveled the Trail of Lights, visited Santa World and enjoyed being together. They were blown away by their holiday trip to Great Bend. The small town charm, friendliness, great food, amazing lights, and incredibly reasonable prices for everything from their hotel rooms and meals to the gifts they purchased were a pleasant holiday surprise. “No one was bored. Everyone, from small children to grandparents had a wonderful time”. We invite you to visit our Christmas City.
