The Wetlands & Wildlife National Scenic Byway takes visitors through Barton, Stafford, & Reno counties in central Kansas. The road moves through radiant wetlands exploding with wildlife; prairie vistas with immense blue skies; and seven rural communities shaped by nature and the entrepreneurial spirit.
Natural resources have been at the heart of the Great Bend economy since its establishment. The most important natural resources surrounding Great Bend is its location between two of the world's most important wetlands; Cheyenne Bottoms and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge.
