Fourth Quarter Photo Contest Winners
WHEN IS THE CONTEST?The overall contest runs from April 1, 2014 – March 31, 2015. There will be four separate contests operating on a seasonal basis.
Contest 1: April – June, 2014Contest 2: July - September, 2014Contest 3: October – December, 2014Contest 4: January – March 2015
At the end of each quarter the entries will be gathered, judged, and prizes will be awarded. The winning photo in each category will automatically be entered into the “Best of the Byway” final contest that will be judged in April of 2015.
WHO CAN ENTER?Eligibility includes both amateur and professional photographers of any age.
WHAT CAN I WIN?
Adult: Each Quarter/Each Category Youth: One Winner/Quarter 1st Place - $300 $100 2nd Place - $150 3rd Place - $50
First Place for each category for each quarter will be place in the “Best of the Byway” contest at the end of the final quarter. Grand Prize - $1,000.00
WHAT TYPES OF PHOTOS ARE ELIGIBLE?We are seeking images with striking original color and creativity. Photos will be judged on originality, subject matter, visual appeal, and ability to portray the Wetlands & Wildlife National Scenic Byway region as a legendary travel destination.
CategoriesAdult photographers (18 years and older)
Youth photographers (5-17 years) may submit “open” entries.
Model ReleaseSubmitting images that clearly identify a person require a model release completed and signed with the entry or the image will be disqualified.
Photos taken on public lands or of people at public events do NOT require a model release according to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism lead attorney.
WHERE MUST THE PHOTOS BE TAKEN?All photos submitted must be taken along the Wetlands & Wildlife National Scenic Byway and within it's corridor.
The byway winds through Barton, Reno, and Stafford counties in central Kansas. The road moves through the radiant wetlands of Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area, The Nature Conservancy Cheyenne Bottoms Preserve, and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge.
